At East Bay United, our motto is “we play for a reason.” In all of our activities we try to incorporate play, learning and community service. Summer camp with East Bay United embraces those same values with the emphasis on “play.” We want to make sure that every summer camper has lots of fun every single day, in a safe environment.

SUMMER PREPARATION FOR UPCOMING SCHOOL YEAR

We know that an empty summer can create a learning deficit, leaving children unprepared for the next academic year. Our Summer Fun Camp features educational enrichment activities that range from library visits, to visits to the Apple Store, to regular demonstrations made by medical, dental, first aid and cooking professionals. To ensure that all participants have an enjoyable and rewarding experience, these are all woven into the fabric of play to keep our campers interested and motivated throughout the summer.

Camp runs through August 17th, and is open to children ages 5 -15. We will be open every week day except July 4th. Camp headquarters is at Creekside Community Church and next to the Chanticleer Theater in Castro Valley, CA. (See the map at the end of this page for the exact location of the camp.)

Join us for an exciting Summer Fun Camp!

CAMP PROGRAMS

FIELD TRIP HIGHLIGHTS
Camp for all ages includes regular field trips to local parks, USS Hornet, the Don Castro swimming area, and attractions that are both fun and great learning experiences. Campers also visit local fun spots like Castro Valley Bowl.

SPORTS IS THE THING
Playing sports is fun, exciting and a great way to learn about teamwork! Camp for every age group will include a heavy dose of sports. Campers will be taught the fundamentals of basketball, flag football, track & field, kickball, volleyball, badminton, and soccer. These skills will then be put to the test through organized games for boys and girls. EBU specializes in using sports to help your child build lasting relationships while improving their individual skills and knowledge of the games. Our counselors include several experienced coaches who are positive and passionate about helping your child reach their goals. In addition to these traditional sports, we also include “fun” sports activities like kickball, capture-the-flag and the many different kinds of “tag”. Finally, we will introduce the campers to a few of the Olympic sports to coincide with the Olympic Games which will happen this summer!

CAMP PHILOSOPHY
East Bay United day camps encourage fun, self-discovery and group adventures while teaching important character values. At camp we foster an atmosphere that reflects our four character values: caring, honesty, respect, responsibility, and our mission statement “we play for a reason.” Our camps are age-specific to ensure a meaningful and exciting experience for campers of all ages.

SAFETY THROUGH STAFF TRAINING
Your child’s safety is our first priority. Our staff is certified in CPR and First Aid. In addition to being fingerprinted and checked against a national database, our camp staff are required to attend mandatory trainings on safety, age-appropriate games and activities, character values, conflict resolution, and positive discipline. In addition, the camp staff is trained in proper traveling procedures to ensure your child’s safety on field trips.

CAMP REGISTRATION

Registration will continue until each weekly program is full. Once you have chosen the weeks you would like your child to attend, fill out and submit your camp registration form with your deposits or payment. This can be done in person, on web site or you can drop them in the mail. Click here for the registration form. Be sure to pick up a Parent Handbook at the site of camp if you are registering late! A $25 deposit per camp week is required to secure a spot for each week your child will be attending. Deposits are nonrefundable and nontransferable between camp weeks. Balances for each camp week are due one week prior to the camp session start date (see chart below). An unpaid balance will result in a loss of deposit and loss of enrollment. We accept cash, check, Master Card, Visa and ATM. Please save your receipt for payment verification. A service charge of $25 will be applied on all returned checks.

Weekly Program Fee Final Payment Due (One week prior to the start of each session)

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE
Financial assistance is available to make East Bay United summer camp accessible to everyone. Our financial assistance fund is made up of donations to East Bay United by families and individuals in the community. Financial assistance is limited so DO NOT WAIT UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE! All applications must be completed and submitted at least one month prior to the week of camp you wish to attend. You will be notified regarding your application one week after applying. Unfortunately, we cannot accept financial aid applications from families who are receiving subsidized funds from other agencies. Your financial assistance application does not guarantee your child a spot in camp. A separate deposit of $25 is required for each week of camp to secure your child’s spot. Once granted financial assistance, the award is applicable to upcoming camp weeks. No refunds/pro-rates will be granted on past weeks of camp. There is a deadline that will be on your acceptance letter. You MUST put your deposit down before that deadline or your assistance award will be given to a different camper. Applications are available on our web site or at our office and will be accepted starting in March.

CANCELLATIONS
Cancellations must be in writing. If received at least one full business week prior to the cancelled week, a refund for that week of camp minus $25 is available in the form of a check. If cancellation is submitted less than one week prior to the week of camp, half of the full camp payment will be forfeited and not refunded. No refunds will be made once the camp week begins.
